Here’s to a different, interesting and a very fun day out at Bibury Trout Farm, England’s oldest working trout farm, in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds.
NO ADVANCE BOOKING NECESSARY for park tickets or “catch your own”. There are brick BBQs for hire, which need to be pre booked, and as this was our big family/friends get together post-lockdown, we had booked a BBQ gazebo, which had its designated picnic area. You can also buy disposable bbqs in the farm and use in the communal area (They don’t allow any other BBQs), so better arrive as early as possible to get a good spot
The “catch your own” is aimed for beginners and for fun. They supply all the equipment free of charge, and give a demo on arrival. We had so much fun catching fish (a unique experience even for the adults, as we had never done anything like this before. All caught fish must be killed, nothing can be returned to the water (charged at £10.50/kilo).They also offer gutting service (50p/fish)
The grills were clean when we arrived. Coal, match&firelighters were provided. We took our own tongs, skewers, other bbq food and sides etc.
While getting the bbq ready, we walked around the farm. There are so many trouts visible from the surface and feeding them was again lots of fun, as they jumped around like anything. There is also a little play park to keep the kids busy, which for once, no one was interested in
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ A really lovely day out for the whole fam, highly recommend. We spent 5 hours there and could have spent more if it wasn’t closing time. Afterwards, we went for a little walk around Bibury and Arlington row
