Deddington adventure play ground at the Windmill centre is another gem in Oxfordshire.. an all rounder.. for all ages..HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The centre has two playgrounds on the huge park which are not adjacent but neither are they too far away from each other. You can still sort of keep an eye on your older kids if you are busy with your toddler in the toddler park.
The one for older children has a timber climbing frame with a windmill model on one of the panels, nets, ropes, wobbly bridge, balancing beam, monkey bars and a wide slide. There is also a separate slide on an easily climb-able mound (with wide steps), spinning bucket, witches hat, small play tunnel, accessible roundabout, swings, zipwire and trampoline. There is also something else – a semi circular arc that you stand on while it swings from side to side- I don’t know what is this called.
The play area for children under six years of age is fenced with it’s own timber multi-activity structure at its centre, which has a little play windmill house, climbing net, ropes, wobbly bridge, balancing beam, climbing wall, ladders and a wide slide. The natural theme continues through a willow tunnel, swings, MagPosts, animal shaped springers, play panels for sensory play, puzzles and Crosses and naught, native hedge and fragrant shrubs. There is a small mound for climbing and plenty of picnic benches for parents to sit on.
From the older playground, there is a small boardwalk to a woodland area which has a pretty cool adventure trail running through its full length under the trees. There is a range of equipment including a rolling log with a holding rope; Ay struggled to balance on it but it was fun trying (and falling). There are amazing views across the field. We even saw a tractor working in the fields which made our day. There are also signs for a dog walk from here.
The surrounding grass area is ideal for ball games with tennis courts, an all-weather court (available to hire for football, netball, tennis and other ball games), a brand new multi-use games area and a fitness trail you’re spoilt for choice.
