A bit late to discover the Jubilee Lake at Langford Village in Bicester as it is not too far from where we live but better late than never. The lake is not huge but is circular and just the perfect length for little ones
The resident ducks are quite friendly and they come around as soon as they see someone coming. They loved to be fed (even fought among themselves). Often the fish also loop around pieces of bread. Watch our video on instagram HERE as one of them seem to be trying to eat/play with the leaf.
It is also a good place for a bit of birdwatching. We were lucky enough to spot a nest of Purple Swamphen (large waterhen with a distinctive heavy red bill and forehead shield, deep blue head and breast, with black upper parts and wings) and grey heron. All with the backdrop of chirpy birds and squirrels running up the trees. We have loved pushing/playing with the fallen leaves in autumn (Video HERE)
There is a nice path around the little lake which can used for scooties/ cycling/ jogging.
For those who are not aware, Jubilee Lake at Langford Village in Bicester is a landscaped “balancing pond”, which was designed as flood protection measure, to temporarily hold additional storm water and control flooding.
