Oxlease Play Park in Witney is located just across the road from Cogges Manor farm (which is where we were heading- read the review HERE). Our sat nav took us to the wrong car park for Cogges (the one for Blue badge holders). There is no access to the main car park from there but you can see the colourful play area from the road. We turned around to go to the main car park on the end of Cogges Hill road (by The Blake School). It was a 4-5 minutes drive and during that time Ay had already bargained with me that he will go to the park first.
There is no fence. The park is in the middle of big open field which is ideal for ball games and picnic but it is also easy for kids to just run away. Luckily there is a small stone wall towards the road, so they can not run to the road and the roads around here are not busy anyway. Also, dogs can come and go as they pleased and I would not have seen that as a problem until recently. Ay was attacked by a dog in a park, so now as soon as he sees a dog coming towards him, he freezes and starts screaming, which is sad. I hope I can remove this fear from him, but if you have a kid who is nervous around kids, this is far from ideal.
Anyways, back to the park.. Centrepiece is a colourful climbing frame with lots of colourful ropes in all sorts of arrangements, which is perfect for little monkeys to practise their skills on. There are wooden chips under the climbing frame. There is a smaller toddler climbing structure made of timber with wobbly bridge and slide. Sit in Sea saw, balancing logs, springers, spinning bucket and swings make up the rest of the play area. Outdoor exercising equipment sits on one side.
Its a good park, but not one you need to make all this journey to, unless you are visiting the area or Cogges manor farm (which is amazing- read the review HERE)
