Riverside Hub in Northampton is an absolute WOW experience that goes beyond your typical “soft play” center. It offers so much more that I do not want to call it a soft play; it deserves its own unique and exceptional label. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Riverside Hub for an unforgettable day filled with laughter, fun, and precious family moments. The 50 minutes drive from Oxford is well worth it for this absolutely fantastic day out.
I won’t bore you with details of the incredible four-tiered giant play frame, which is not only one of the largest in the UK but is also set at a comfortable 2-meter head height, allowing adults to join in the fun without worry and have just as much enjoyment as the kids. Instead, Let me share some of the extra special features that make Riverside Hub truly extraordinary.
💃 Enjoy a sparkly disco where you can become the DJ and create music while the entire family dances to your tunes. It’s a delightful way to let loose and have a blast together.
👨🚒 The new two-story village building offers plenty of role-play opportunities, including the cutest parlour you can imagine. Let your child’s imagination run wild in this immersive environment which has a restaurant, garage, a cafe, a shop, a doctors/vets and a building site.
💡 Laser tag adds an exciting dimension to the experience, complete with dramatic music and spaceship theming. Engage in friendly competition and create thrilling memories.
🧗♀️ Riverside Hub offers numerous climbing opportunities that cater to different age groups and ignite the competitive spirit. Whether it’s the harnessed climbing adventure on the impressive 10-meter high indoor oak and jack on the beanstalk trees in the centre, state-of-the-art interactive climbing walls where you can whack bats or smash fruits, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
🚙 Go-karts, a carousel, and even a crazy golf course with the option to purchase a glow-in-the-dark ball for just £1 (which you can keep and use on your next visit) ensure there’s never a dull moment.
The venue also provides brilliant sensory experiences to engage and captivate children of all ages. What I particularly loved was the sensory rooms were dotted around the Hub, so kids could enjoy the muralling, light effects, crystals and calming themes.
🏖 The magical and interactive sandpit is an absolute delight. You can try to catch dinosaurs or smash crabs, providing endless entertainment for children. Ay could have happily spent an entire day there!
What makes Riverside Hub even more remarkable is that all of these fantastic activities and attractions are included in your ticket price. Yes, you read it correctly—NO EXTRA COST. Although I typically dislike the idea of adults paying for soft play on top of a child’s ticket, I wouldn’t mind it here, as there are so many activities where adults can actively participate, such as laser tag, interactive games, climbing the oak tree, and more. There’s a separate baby and under 5s area, featuring lots of unique muralling, light effects, crystals and calming themeing!
During our weekday visit, we were fortunate to try almost everything multiple times without queuing. However, I can easily envision the venue being busier during peak times, with potential waiting times for certain activities.
