Sandford park playground is nicely tucked away in Sandford-on-Thame in Oxford and is actually quite popular but to be honest, I was a bit disappointed in it.
I expected a bit more from this one as I had read some good reviews about it. Now it has a big climbing frame with a slide, but it was quite difficult to get to the slide, as the frame is is aimed only for slightly older children (5-6+ probably). There is a slide for toddlers but it is quite little, so Ay was a bit upset that he could not even enjoy a decent slide 🥲🥲
There are lots of positives though. The park has a good collection of swings including the one with reclining chair, which I have only ever seen in the park in Cumnor hill, and I loved swinging on it myself. There was that other swing set-up, with one person hanging and the other sitting in the seat, which again, I have only seen in Cumnor hill . They must have the same designer for both the parks. I don’t Know what it’s called but I just put my son in the seat and spun him around.
In addition, there was a long (not very fast) zip wire, stepping stones, mound with a hobbit tunnel (which we had fun in), another old style climbing ladder like frame/monkey bars and something else I have seen in a few parks, though no idea what it is meant for (some verticals logs arranged in a circle sticking out of the ground)- does anyone know it’s use?
Overall, I have mixed feeling about this. While we did enjoy ourselves, it is best for tots or for 5+; if you are somewhere in the middle (like us), you may be a bit disappointed.
