We came across two new playgrounds in the newly built Barton park in Oxford. As you enter and are going through the development, you will come across THIS first park by the lake. Keep going and you will come across the NEXT ONE.
This one is quite small, but I really loved the big tower like climbing frame with a rope, though Ay was not too keen on it initially. He took the easier way out by taking the ladder up instead but it must be great fun climbing on it’s own. There is also a nest swing, small climbing frame with slides, roundabout, small bridge and lots of stepping rocks. The surrounding lake and green area was pretty good too, with board walks around
🗺 Address: Barton Fields Rd, OX3 9WN.
If the post code doesn’t work, keep following the road when u enter via the new development (mosaics) until you see it on your left (by the lake)
-Nearby parking is residents only, though we managed to get into 1 of 3 visitor spaces by the showroom. I don’t think we will be so lucky each time. Please park sensibly
-No cafe but toilets and bar open in the pavilion behind the playground-(not sure about the timings)
-no dogs allowed
Negatives: There were stones in the bigger park by the school and my son kept slipping on them. Also, there was not much protection on the ground by the big climbing tower, which is surprising for a new build. I am not too impressed by the safety features, otherwise, it is a great new addition
