We came across two new playgrounds in the newly built Barton park in Oxford. As you enter and go through the development, you will come across the first one park by the lake (please see Barton Park 1). Keep going and you will come across another one. You really have to keep following the road to the recreation ground/ primary school to discover both. You may think you are lost but you are not!
This one is also small but has a pretty cool sand pit with a climbing frame and lots of accessories. My son spent most of his time in the sand pit. There was another climbing frame with a slide, wobbly bridge and a hide out. The wooden stumps were just perfect (not too widely spaced, so easy to climb/balance on).In addition, there was a little house with seats & table inside and bridge outside- perfect for imaginative play. It is surrounded by Football pitch, tennis courts and astroturf pitches with plenty of adults playing.
🗺 Address: Barton Village Road Recreation Ground, Barton Village Road, Oxford OX3 9LA
If the post code doesn’t work, keep following the road when u enter via the new development (mosaics) until you reach it
-No cafe but toilets and bar open in the pavilion behind the playground-(not sure about the timings)
-no dogs allowed
Negatives: There were stones in the bigger park by the school and my son kept slipping on them. Also, there was not much protection on the ground by the big climbing tower, which is surprising for a new build. not too impressed by the safety features, otherwise, great new addition
