When I say Brownsill or Greatworth park in Northamptonshire is a hidden gem, I actually mean it! It was a bit of a struggle finding it as it is surrounded by houses in all directions. I thought we’d come the wrong way, but then saw a polite notice saying be considerate to the residents, so knew we were close enough.. Eventually, I did spot the entrance by a small alley way between houses, into the park (with a notice saying only for children not older than primary school age), but as soon as we entered, we were pleasantly surprised.
The best part, we had this amazing place to ourselves. The equipment is lovely, the surrounding so peaceful, lots of daisies on the grass, variety of birds chirping and occasional sheep baa-baa-big. I would have loved just sitting there on my own but ofcourse I wasn’t allowed to 😜😜
There is a big climbing frame for older children, but has so many entrances with different level of complexity (so anyone can have a go),either coming out through the slides or onto the log frame/spider web/cargo net. There’s a separate climbing frame in the toddler area (both protected by wooden chips). There are swings, see saws, rockers & lots of picnic benches. The third area is an a obstacle course (which is becoming my favourite things in the parks these days). My son could do most of, apart from the monkey bars, which were widely spaced & impossible for his height/width.
I wished there was a cafe close by which would have made this perfect, but this really is a good find. It is well worth the drive in my opinion, so will be going here quite often
