If you are looking for something intimate and personal at Christmas, fun at your own pace and not highly commercialised, then you can not go wrong with Yarnton’s magic garden…
We were invited for the Visit (thank you!). We reached at our specified time and were allotted a time to “meet Santa” at the entry. Until then, we played in the soft play (which is included in the ticket and we have reviewed before- please see this POST). You can also write and post a letter to Santa and/or prepare reindeer food while waiting.
When it is your time, the elves welcome you to wander through the little winter wonderland (which takes no longer than 5 minutes) and then you are taken into Santa’s grotto to have a one to one with him. Santa was really interactive, asking Ay about what he would like and whether he has been nice etc. We then had photo with him (on our own phone, so there is nothing extra to pay for the momento, which I loved).. We were then taken to Santa’s workshop where there were stacks and stacks of wrapped presents. The presents are marked B (for boys) and G (for girls) with a T (if suitable for toddlers). You can not tell what is inside, which is good and bad at the same time, but I love the element of surprise.
After collecting our present, we then had a wander around the garden shop. There is also another children’s gift shop just next door to the soft play, which we have never been able to escape it and “the works” is next door to it. There are two Reindeer models in the garden centre too.
All in all, we had a great day. The best thing is you can do everything at your own pace. You don’t have to move with a group. so when you arrive, you can either play in soft play or do letter/ reindeer food and if not, then come to it after visiting the grotto. It is great value for money as everything is included in the price. You don’t pay anything extra and the price is very reasonable
