Hinksey Park in Oxford is actually a good sized playground with a “boat themed”sandpit with nice equipment. There are separate climbing frames for little and older children. The smaller one was not challenging for us but the bigger play frame is actually quite tricky and I saw lots of little children struggling on it. In order to get onto the slide, you have to climb one tower up, get to the next climbing wall, which is separated by a short distance and then go up the next tower to go down the slide. We had a go at it but chickened out as I don’t think Ay could have done it even with my help. It is probably better suited for 6+
There were swings, rockers, nice spinning wheels and another thing I had not seen before we went there but I have now in a few places- it’s a roundabout, which children have to pedal to move.
There is a free splash park and chargeable outdoor heated swimming pool. We went during Covid restrictions, so both closed were closed but HERE is the website if you need to find more information.
After the park, we went on a long walk around the duck pond, then the large lake, and found a bridge over the lake to the other side of hinskey, which was glorious. There was even a bridge over the train tracks, where we loved train spotting. Details of that walk are HERE— combine the two for a brilliant day out!
