We went to the Hinksey park in Oxford (read our review HERE) and after we had finished playing there, we decided to go for a stroll around the duck pond. Actually, there is a lake close by and as we started circling it around, we came across a wooden bridge crossing it. As you go over, then up the stairs, there is another bridge over the train tracks, with trains passing every almost ten minutes. After enjoying “train spotting”, we went down the other end to a very beautiful natural reserve, with a wetland, trees, blossoms, boardwalk, chirpy birds, squirrels and what not!!
We continued till we reached the village, then turned around and explored the same area a bit more. It is buggy doable apart from the stairs (30-40) up and down and judging by the many people with children crossing us, it must be hugely popular among the locals.
The Hinksey park, lake and the walk together will make a mini good day out.
I did not find much information on google about it when I returned back but this map with a longer walk is on the Oxfordshire county council website which begins in the same way but takes you all the way to Chilswell valley (which we have been to and reviewed separately HERE)
It is not the Hinksey nature trail though, which is from the other end and is on our list of things to do
