Lillingstone pick your own is a family run farm, nestled in the stunning countryside of Buckinghamshire who open their Farm gates for seasonal pick-your-own adventures and events! They invited us for their PYO Pumpkin and Halloween event and so off we went!
As you enter through the farm shop, the Play-Patch come first, which I must say was pretty good. There is a big bale mountain to climb which is always a hit. You can also play in the small kitchen and plenty of other garden games to keep them busy! There was a small pig pen too.
Next was the Maize Maze, which is new for 2022. There are some hidden clues throughout the maze, which can help you navigate your way back out again, or if you are anything like us, then just keep getting lost until you find a way out!
We collected a wheelbarrow after that and headed down to the Pumpkin Patch, which had a good variety of pumpkins and squashes! There were giant whoppers, orange ones, white ones, as well as funky and quirky little ones. Pumpkins are sold according to size and these prices are displayed when you enter the patch. I thought they were reasonably priced and while you can find cheaper pumpkins in the super market, you are also paying for the experience of PYO, so still worth it. There is a lot of halloween inspired decor throughout the farm.
Each child also gets a gift bag (with pumpkin carving set and tea lights) and a sweetie at the end, which was a good surprise.
You can also book Pony Rides, which last about 10 minutes and are booked separately through the little shetland company for £10.00 pp+ £0.84 booking fee. These will be available for children from 2years old – 16years old (8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, 29th and 30th October). A Waiver form must be filled out on arrival and helmets are provided. One bigger pony and two shetlands, which were dressed up for Halloween, are available for each time slot.
You can also have Professional mini-photoshoots with Angela leeding photography on 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, 27th & 30th October or with Tom Marvin Photography (07857484308) on 22nd, 24th, 28th & 29th. Additional charges apply
Pony rides and photoshoots need to be pre-booked.
We then went on the tractor trailer ride, which took us through the fields for a bumpy ride. There are some spooky characters around the field, which can help you find answers to the questions in the activity booklet. The ride was pretty good but I think they were slightly expensive (at £2.50 per adult and 4£ per child), as it will amount to 13£ for a family of four, on top of the entry ticket. However, we have been to similar experiences where the prices have been 5£ pp, so, I suppose, it is what it is, unfortunately 🙁
We spent about 2 1/2 hours at the patch. The staff was friendly and the weather Amazing.
A morning very well spent!!
