What’s On for Kids in Easter Holidays in and around Oxfordshire- 2022

There are so many activities to do with kids in Oxfordshire over the upcoming Easter holidays. I have put together a guide for you all, including all the Easter egg hunts and bunny meets which have been advertised so far. I have added and updated a section on Lambing as you many of you privately messaged me.

So whether you want an activity in the gardens, in the farms, in the National Trust properties or in an indoor space or a train, I have it all covered!

Gardens and Stately homes:

  • Easter Eggstravaganza at Blenheim Palace: (Friday 29th March – Monday 1st April). Hop along to the Walled Garden to enjoy a whole host of egg-citing activities including circus skills, balloon modelling, bubble performances, bungee trampolines and a travelling vintage variety show, not to mention appearances from none other than the Easter Bunny throughout the weekend too.

  • Join the Big Easter Bunny Hunt around the Waterperry gardens. 1-14th  April 2024.
    £3.50 per child with a prize – children must be accompanied by an adult for whom the garden entrance fee applies.

  • Easter Trail at Tumblestone Hollow returns between Friday 29th March – Sunday 14th April 2024. An exciting selection of wholesome fun awaits! Discover our Easter Trail, nature walk, craft activities and storytelling sessions, all within the picturesque backdrop of our gardens and woodland adventure playground. Children are free to weave their way throughout the gardens, walkways, playground and woodland, solving riddles, spotting signs of spring, listening to stories and getting creative.

  • Bouncy bunny hunt at Evenley Wood garden: 16th March – 25th March 2024
    Collect you map and follow the arrows to find our Easter friends around the garden. Once completed collect your Easter treat from the Easter bunny. We have also hidden on golden egg in the garden. Find the elusive golden egg to claim the giant chocolate egg?

    Ticket – £6  admits one child to participate in the Easter trail. Adults are still required to pay normal admission fees.

Museums and education centres:

  • Eggsplore the Eggstraordinary Easter Family Trail at the Natural History Museum with an eggciting family trail. Find all the hidden eggs around the museum and check out some eggcellent Easter themed specimens!

  • Out of the deep, Science Saturday and Family Sundays at Natural History Museum: Come along to ocean world to touch real ocean specimens and make your own ocean-themed crafts to take home!. On science Saturdays, Meet scientists to investigate real natural history specimens from the collection and on Family Sundays, there are Family-friendly trails, crafts, and more, all provided by Museum volunteers.
  • Museum of Oxford:
    • City Gardening family workshop: Get green-fingered and make a seedball in this fun family workshop 2nd April. 3£/child
    • Oven-Ready Science with Science Oxford : With a pinch of science, a dash of inspiration and a dollop of fun, we have all the ingredients for cool kitchen chemistry! 10£/child. 4th April
    • Climate Crusaders with Zoolab: Get up close with exotic creatures and learn about how we can protect them them at this workshop lead by Zoolab. 10£/child. 8th April
    • Mask making with African Activities: Discover the magic of African mask-making at the Museum of Oxford!
      £10/child (free admittance to one adult per paying child). 9th April
  • A springtime adventure – follow the trail and help the Easter bunny discover who has laid all the different eggs to earn your Hungry birds Easter trail at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre 2,3,4,9 April 2024: The blue tit chick is hungry – but what is the right food for him to eat? Come help blue tit find discover the right foods for all the birds and their beaks in the different habitats. Complete the birdy challenges as you go to earn your chocolate prize! Make a bird themed craft to take home. Suitable for4-11 years. £8 per child.
    Family Pond Dipping Workshops on 10 April:
    It’s a whole new world in the watery depths of the pond! Come grab a net and meet some of the fascinating creatures living just out of sight.
    Suitable for children aged 4-11 years, no younger siblings please. £8 per child.
  • Adopt a Dragon at Oxford Castle and Prison: Selected Dates between 30 Mar – 14 Apr 2024
    Paint and decorate your dragon egg, construct your own nest for your dragon , and then finally it’s time for you to adopt your very own dragon to take home with you. Each child will take home their egg, nest and soft toy dragon along with a certificate of adoption and a fact sheet for them to fill in for their fiery friend.

  • Easter chick hunt & Heritage Bus Rides on 31st March and 1st April at Oxford Bus Museum

  • The Anglo-Saxons are coming  to Wallingford Museum!  Come and discover more about the day to day lives of the people who lived their lives within the Anglo-Saxon burh of Wallingford.   • Chiltern Open air museum (29th March-1st April April 2024):

  • Easter 2024: Find the Fastest Car Family Trail – Every Day at the British Motor Museum 23rd march- 14th April 2024:
    The Find the Fastest Car family trail aims to answer this question by taking you on a journey through the Museum, seeking the fastest of the fast. If you want to get a head-start and stay ahead of the pack, join a Racing Drivers Tour, as you and the Museum’s resident racing driver characters explore the collections, learning more about what makes cars fast.
    Finally, once you’ve learned everything you need to know about speed, you can stop by the Learning Hub to Make Your Own Fast Car, with cut-out and keep kits to take home.

  • High Lodge Farm’s action-packed Easter Trail is running from March 29th to Sunday April 7th  with extended 1.2km woodland adventure trail.

There are a number of Easter adventures in nature at national trust properties in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.  Complete a trail and earn your chocolate egg at the end. Normal grounds admission applies, so free for NT members but trails cost £3 per child

  • Easter trail  at Waddesdon Manor:  Easter trail runs Wed 27 Mar – Sun 14 Apr.  From 27 March until 14 April, children get free entry to the house and grounds at Waddesdon but normal ground admission applies for adults. Price is £3 per trail (one egg per trail)

  • Spring Bingo trail at Stowe:
    Free activity packs. Follow the trail, find the 12 stamp stations and complete your stamp collection card. Solve puzzles and call at the Stowe House visitor centre to pick up your free Cobham’s Coin. You can also visit our Reward Shed outside the Farmhouse Garden and pick up a little treat! Choose from seed bombs, pin badges and sweet treats!

  • Easter Adventures at White Horse Hill at The Uffington White Horse trail (29th March- 1st April 2024)
    Get out and explore the myths and legends that make up this ancient place. Discover the wildlife that calls White Horse Hill home and learn more about this unique landscape. Follow the route around all 10 trail points, complete activities, answer questions and spot wildlife, then head to the finish to receive a chocolate reward!
  • Easter Adventure Quest at Kenilworth Castle (ENGLISH HERITAGE) which will also be happening during the Easter break from 23 March to 14 April: Hunt for clues in the castle grounds, track down the Easter eggs and get rewarded with a tasty chocolate treat. You can take on the quest every day of the school holidays, and it costs just £2 to take part. This is for each child, whether you’re a member or not, and it’s on top of the ticket price.  FREE for EH/ CSSC members
    • The Big Brick Build  will also be happening during the Easter holiday from Friday 29 March – Sunday 7 April 2024. Become a budding gardener, and help us design a garden fit to woo a queen as we travel back to Elizabeth I’s visit to Kenilworth Castle. What will you add to help Robert Dudley win the Queen’s heart. Once you’ve worked your magic, our brick builders will put your creations together, creating an amazing mini version of the gardens, for all to enjoy. Additional price applies
