Ok I am late to the party but better be late than never! I absolutely love the Leys recreation ground in Witney. It is an all rounder with a lot to do for all ages.. An amazing climbing frame AND a seasonal splash area AND an adjacent skate park AND a really decent cafe nearby.. what more do you want!
The climbing frame or the “Witney Towers” as I am told they are called, is pretty impressive. I have never seen one like this in a FREE playground. I can not describe it to be honest, just have a look at the pictures. It is aimed at older children but Ay (aged 5 could complete it all without help). It looked like it may be tricky and the children could obstruct each other as they move in the rope tunnels in it but I did not see that happen even though everyone was going whichever way they wanted

There is also a zip wire and a witches hat which is bigger than in most places. Toddlers have their own smaller frames, an adventure tunnel, small obstacle course, small trampoline and springer. There is a wide variety of swings including nest swing, the rope snake swing and one for two babies side by side. There is a story-telling chair under the trees on one end as well.
There is a Splash park, which is pretty basic with a few water fountains, small dam building portions and a bridge but it was a lot of fun nonetheless. Take change of clothes with you (which we didn’t) but Ay played in the water with his clothes on and was fully soaked. Apparently there is a forest hut for nappy and clothes change but I missed it completely. We changed our clothes in the car.
The whole play area is fenced so children can not run outside. The majority of the play areas is ground and grass apart from portions of wood chips underneath some equipment. There are a few wooden logs and some benches to sit in but most families were enjoying a picnic on the grass either inside the play area or outside on the bigger grass field
