Blackthorn Park is a nice little gem- I can’t believe I have never been here before!! To be honest I much preferred it to Garth park, not only in terms of equipment but also it was quiet and less crowded. I would rate it as one of the best in Bicester
It has a fabulous obstacle course and an amazing climbing frame with slide, as well as lovely little mounds/hillocks for running up n down, zip wire ( broken when we visited), monkey bars and swings. There is a cute little maze with small tepees/tunnels (would love to see how it looks when it’s covered by the bushes/creepers).
There are little bridges to take you over to a small woodland, which has trees perfect for climbing (for those no my so confident like my son). We also spotted some Beautiful birds and gazed over the sheep in the next field. There’s also a football goal to play ball games.
All in all, a good family outing and a nice hidden park for practicing climbing and play hide n seek. There’s plenty of picnic space and benches to sit round while you let your kids let their energy off
It’s better for the older age group (2.5- 3+ perhaps) but there are baby swings and you can easily climb the wooden frame to help you little one if they were keen
