Forest hill recreation park is BRILLIANT. The first thing that catches your attention is the pirate ship, which is great for imaginative play and made Ay shout out in excitement, but the wooden frame was also amazing. It actually inspired my son to make his first attempt at climbing the wall, and he did ok (with some help at the end), so it was a proud mummy moment for me 🙂
There is a very tall pyramid rope climbing frame. Usually these structures have big steps, but this one was just ideal and even my son could go up almost to the top (before I asked him to come down before I had a heart attack). I love adventures and encourage him too but there was no protective flooring (not even wood chips), so my heart was literally in my throat as he got up and up. You may argue he shouldn’t be climbing it, and that’s a fair point (he’ll turn four soon), but still, he does it at other parks too. I will let you guys be a judge on that.
Apart from that, you can not find any fault here. There are a few slides, rockers, round about, swings, zip wire, spider web, money bars, fireman pole and a little den to play in.
What was best.. we had the whole place to ourselves. We went close to sunset and the views were so amazing. The surrounding field looked ideal for ball games or kite flying. There were goalposts as well.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THE AREA: Rectory farm is very close by and open for PYO, so you could make a day out of it. Stanton St John play area is also close which we have reviewed before HERE . Apparently you could walk from one to the other along the walking track, about 1 mile, but we did not try that
