Wantage memorial park is not too big but it must be really popular due to the splash park in its centre. It is hedged, fenced and gated with rubber matting landing under the equipment.
There is a zip wire which is the shortest one I have ever seen. There are steps to get on the seat but it was a bit complicated to get on for Ay. He stepped on ok, but then when he turned around to sit on the seat, he bumped his head on the pole. I also saw another kid having the same problem. So despite the steps, smaller children will still need help even if they climbed the steps on his own.
There are lots of benches and picnic benches and surrounding green spaces have paths for walking, jogging or cycling. You can also see remains of a cast iron water fountain within the play area.
There is a Bandstand in the nearby garden. Wantage Lawn Tennis Club and Bowling club is also on site.
As we were leaving, an ice cream van turned up, who was cash only, so be prepared to bump into one if you head this way
