Upton park play area next to the village hall in Didcot is a pretty cool playground with an unconventional play area. The park is mainly aimed at children aged 3-4 years and older. Apart from a small slide, swings, house/pirate boat for imaginative play and a four-way sea saw, there is not much to do for toddlers
Older kids, however, have a pump track, pretty fast zip wire and obstacle course (with tube net tunnel, wobbly steps, balancing logs, cargo net and spider web)! Although there is a traditional looking frame with slide, there are lots of other unusual climbing opportunities with spider web, ladders, steps up, monkey bars and balancing log. In addition, there is a sit in sea-saw, springers, spinning disc, swings and stand up revolver.
The park is full of wood chips but there is no fence around it, so children can run around freely around in the vast surrounding green fields with football posts.
UPDATE: We visited again on 8 January 2023. The pump track has now been tarmac-ed and looks even better!
