Although small, Somerton play park in Bicester is also one of our favourites. The climbing frame is good enough, although not the best as it does not have a wobbley bridge, which is my standard 🤣 & getting from one end to the other difficult unless you are a confident climber, so is definitely aimed for older kids but it has one of the best zip wires I have encountered. The ideal height for us, as my son could climb up & down himself (saving me some energy) and it was pretty fast. It made a whoooshing noise as it started and banged at the other end.We spent most of our time on the zip wire as there weren’t other people around, which made it all the more exciting!
There is a tractor for imaginative play, willow tunnel, wooden cow, other climbing things and swings.
It’s the only park I have came across which had a hand sanitizer (working as well) at the gate 👍
The views are gorgeous. It is on top of a hill and surrounding field had small mounds for climbing. We had a little walk around the village and came across lots of cows– what else can you hope for! I will love to go back and explore the area a bit more.

🗺 Address: Somerton, OX25 6ND
🚘 Free off street parking but it was tricky- not much space on the single track road but we (as well as others) managed.
🚻 No toilets on site
🍕 No refreshments on site
🧺 Picnic allowed
🦽 Entrance is steep, possibly doable with a stroller but I saw one parked just near the gate, so best avoided
🐕 There were plenty of walkers and dogs around as well- must be a popular area- but dogs not allowed within the play area
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO:
We did this as a part of our park hopping adventure- Four parks all within 2-3 miles of each other. We drove from one to another. I don’t think it will be possible as a walk but who knows someone may dare someday!
